Digital Scans of Cartographic Material
When a digital scan of cartographic material has been made, add the following to the record:
Add to the BIB record a 655 genre heading to indicate the presence of a digital scan of the map.

The geographic name in the ‡z is the same as the geographic name in the 651 ‡a. If the geographic name in the 651 ‡a includes a second name in parentheses, then make two ‡z subfields in the 655 and include the parentheses name in the first ‡z and the non-parentheses name in the second ‡z.

The date in the 655 ‡y is the same as the date in the 260 ‡c. Include only the digits of the year and a question mark if present; do not include any other words or punctuation.

For digital surrogates of maps produced by YUL, create a second MFHD attached to the BIB record for the item scanned.
Add an 856 field giving the url where the scan is stored in the ‡u subfield.
Use the standard term Online map in the ‡3 subfield and further qualify this if necessary with the words recto or verso or a sheet numbering system as appropriate. See http://www.library.yale.edu/cataloging/Orbis2Manual/8563subfield.xls. Examples of qualified standard terms:
